Privacy Policy

Who we are

Anchor is operated by Michael Forkan, based in Ireland. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at michael@anchorcompanion.app.

What we collect

We only collect what's needed to make the app work and to keep you updated:

• Name and email address — if you choose to share them during onboarding or in settings. This is optional.
• Session data — the content of your Anchor sessions (brain dumps, emotional states, chosen options, reflections). This is stored securely and used only to power your in-app history and coaching.
• Preferences — your coach style, onboarding choices, and app settings. Stored locally on your device and in our database.
• Usage data — basic analytics about how the app is used (e.g. session counts, streaks). No personally identifiable information is included.

What we don't collect

• We don't collect your location.
• We don't access your contacts, camera, or microphone without explicit permission.
• We don't build advertising profiles.
• We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.

How we use your data

• To provide and improve the Anchor app.
• To send you product updates and tips by email — only if you opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To respond to support requests.
• To understand how the app is being used so we can make it better.

Where your data is stored

Session and subscriber data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the EU. Email communication is handled by Loops. Both providers are GDPR-compliant.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you're based in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Withdraw consent for email communications at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at michael@anchorcompanion.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep your session data for as long as you use the app. If you'd like your data deleted, contact us and we'll remove it within 30 days. Email subscriber data is removed immediately upon unsubscribing.

Children's privacy

Anchor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have done so in error, please contact us immediately.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify users by email where appropriate. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
